It’s South Carolina

Upstate has 18 South Carolina state parks and historic sites, and 4 of them list free admission (Hickory Knob, Keowee-Toxaway, Oconee Station, Rose Hill Plantation). The rest charge per person, mostly $3 to $8 for adults, and the $99 All Park Passport covers the whole vehicle for a year. Every fee and rule below was read from the park’s own page on southcarolinaparks.com on 2026-10-16.

Do I need a Park Passport?

Admission is charged per person. Two adults at an $8 park pay $16, so the $99 All Park Passport, which covers everyone in the vehicle, pays for itself after about seven such visits. See the full list of all state parks, fees and passports.

Are dogs allowed?

Most parks allow dogs in outdoor areas on a leash no longer than six feet, and not in cabins or lodging. Beach rules differ, so check the park page. Stroller rules are not stated on the park pages we read; call the park office.
