North Myrtle Beach lights its tree on Tuesday, Dec 1 at 6 p.m. at McLean Park with Santa and friends, stage performances, caroling and refreshments, all free (city page). Brookgreen Gardens opens its candlelit evenings on Dec 3 to 6 from 4 to 9 p.m. (tickets). Saturday, Dec 5 has two parades: A Very Broadway Christmas Parade at 11 a.m. at Broadway at the Beach, with stilt walkers, classic cars, marching bands and special guests, and the North Myrtle Beach night parade at 5:30 p.m. of lighted floats and vehicles starting at 2nd Ave N and Ocean Blvd and running south to Main St (Broadway page, city page). Santa’s Village at the Great Christmas Light Show runs Thursday to Sunday through Dec 6.

Monday, December 7 to Sunday, December 13

The Great Christmas Light Show runs nightly, and Santa’s Village switches to nightly from Dec 10 (schedule and prices). Brookgreen’s candle nights are Dec 10 to 13. On Saturday, Dec 12 the Conway Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade starts at 10 a.m.; its page says more information is coming, so check the Conway page for the route.

Monday, December 14 to Thursday, December 31

Brookgreen’s candle nights continue Dec 17 to 20 and Dec 29 to 31, and the light show runs nightly through Dec 30 except Christmas Day. Santa visits Broadway at the Beach in Center Court on Saturdays through Dec 19, 12:30 to 3 p.m., with complimentary face painting and balloon tying (details). The year ends with fireworks over Lake Broadway at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec 31, weather permitting (Broadway page).

Beyond the Grand Strand: the Pee Dee

Fantasy of Lights in Sumter. Swan Lake Iris Gardens runs a free drive-through display from Dec 1 to 31, lit nightly until 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The opening ceremony is Dec 1 at 6 p.m., and Santa’s Village runs 6 to 8 p.m. on Dec 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19.
